Diamond Advanced Motorists Test


Very similar in content and standard to ADI Part 2 Driving Test

Many training organisations recommend trainees take this test as a ‘Mock Test’ before taking their ADI Part 2.

A useful test for ADIs to take to check that they are maintaining their standards.


Cardington Special Test


Conducted at DSA examiner training centre at Cardington, (near Bedford)

This Test is only open to ADIs

Test duration is 90 minutes and no more than 3 driving errors are allowed


Diamond Advanced Motorists Special Test


Arguably the ‘most advanced standard’

Test duration is 90 minutes and no more than 2 driving errors are allowed

A short period of commentary driving is required.


Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM)


Test duration is 90 minutes

Examiners are all Police Advanced Driving Certificate holders
(class 1)

Test is based on ‘Roadcraft’ and the marking system is based on your normal pattern of driving as opposed to the recording of errors.


Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA)


Test duration is 90 minutes

Examiners are all Police Advanced Driving Certificate holders
(class 1)

Test is based on ‘Roadcraft’ and the marking system is based on your normal pattern of driving as opposed to the recording of errors

Result is graded, Gold, Silver, Bronze.
You are asked to retake the test every 3 years to either maintain, or improve your grade.
