Do Driving Instructors Need
Professional Development?
Many people pass their driving test, and then have the attitude:-
“I know everything I need to know about driving.”
They will not consider the need for any kind of further training, assessment, or development.
They have a licence!
And that is all they need!
Many ADIs pass their Part 3 Exam, and then have the attitude:-
“I know everything I need to know about instructing”
They will not consider the need for any kind of further training, assessment, or development.
They have their green badge!
And that is all they need!
Things change, new ideas develop, some people develop further, so anyone doing nothing could get left behind.
Qualifying as an ADI is an achievement, but it is only the start.
There are several areas in which ADIs can further develop once they are qualified:
|
·
|
Instructional Ability / Teaching Skills
|
|
·
|
Marketing / Selling Skills
|
Some Professional Development will increase your knowledge, skills, or abilities in relation to your teaching.
Some Professional Development will increase your knowledge, skills, or abilities in relation to running your business.
Some Professional Development will include qualifications that will enable you to market your services better.
Some Professional Development will enable you to move into other areas of tuition.
The solution for some ADIs at some points in their career will be a training course or gaining another qualification.
The solution for an ADI at a particular point in their career may be private development, perhaps by reading, or simply practicing and honing their skills.
