Knowledge Development For ADIs

The ADI Part 1 Exam demands a high level of knowledge, but there is far more to learn, and it is also important to keep up to date with any changes.

This can be done in various ways:

Private informal study or reading
Formal courses covering a particular subject area
Group study
Preparation for a formal exam

Formal qualifications used to include:

The Diploma in Driving Instruction

Which consisted of five written examinations:

1 Legal Obligations & Regulations
2 Management Practices & Procedures
3 Vehicle Maintenance & Mechanical Principles
4 Driving Theory, Skills & Procedures
5 Teaching Practices & Procedures

The Diploma in Driving Instruction has now been replaced by The Diploma in Driver Education, which now consists of either individual short courses or online study, more information on The Diploma in Driver Education can be obtained from the Driving Instructors Association (DIA)

The Diploma in Driving Instruction, or the Diploma in Driver Education are qualifications in their own right, but they can also be used as a foundation leading to:

University Certificate
Certificate in Higher Education
Diploma in Higher Education
Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree
Honours Degree
Master of Arts or Science Degree
Doctorate
Professor

By improving and developing a deeper level of knowledge, it can help you to teach more confidently, pass more detailed knowledge onto your students, explain things better, and teach driving at a more advanced level.
